Kayak Tours of the Comox Valley

Comox Valley Kayaks & Canoes is located right by the water in Courtenay.  Many of our tours launch directly from our shop and explore our unique local marine environment.  Our guides are skilled, friendly, and knowledgeable - making our tours welcoming for beginners and experts alike.  We are also happy to customize any of our tours to suit your interest, ability, and schedule.

The White Whale Gourmet Appetizer Tour - $79

Launching from our shop on the Courtenay estuary, participants will embark on a guided paddle on the river to the White Whale restaurant, a hub for great beer and freshly prepared local food. After exiting kayaks on the dock, we will enjoy a waterfront table on the scenic patio of one of Courtenay's finest restaurants. This tour includes a gourmet appetizer and a glass of house wine, craft beer or try the sampler beer paddle. Non-alcoholic beverages are also available.

Day Trip to Tree Island - $99

Spend an enjoyable day kayak touring in Baynes Sound with our experienced guides. We will cover kayak launching, basic strokes, equipment, and safety... but the emphasis will be just paddling in this beautiful area. Tree Island is our lunch destination. This day trip gives you plenty of time on the water to experience the sea, as well as a break on land to explore the intertidal zones. 

*Pricing is based on a group of 4 paddlers. For custom tours with smaller groups, rates are $30 per person/hour.

What to Bring:

  • All kayaking equipment provided.  Please wear weather-appropriate clothing (no jeans please), and shoes that can get wet.  Bring along a lunch, water, hat, sunglasses, sunblock, and your camera.

Comox Harbour & Shipwreck Paddle - $69.00

Paddle along the beautiful shoreline to explore the Comox Harbour and the scenic waters surrounding Goose Spit.  This area is home to seals, Bald Eagles, Blue Herons, Canada Geese & various ducks. The group will then cross the Courtenay River Estuary to the historic Royston Shipwrecks (also known as the Ghost Ships of Royston) to inspect the looming hulls and the intertidal life that can be found there.  This tour is one of our most popular, as it explores many of the exciting landmarks our Estuary has to offer.

Exploration Day Trip to Denman & Chrome Islands - $99.00

Launching from Deep Bay we will cross over to Denman Island & slowly move southward along the rugged shorelines towards Chrome Island.   Chrome Island is just off the south tip of Denman, and is  home to a fully operational lighthouse. Features here also include breathtaking rock formations as well as ancient petroglyphs left by early explorers. We will stop on land for lunch and enjoy the  opportunity to soak in the sun, serenity, and spectacular views... not to mention the variety of sea birds, seals, (seasonal sea lions) & hundreds of sea stars stuck to the rock walls.  After a thorough exploration of the area, we will head back to Deep Bay with great photos & memories of a day well-spent.
